Maybe this is your first time to Queensland, maybe you’ve been before, but why not use our Wedding as a good excuse to stay a few extra days and see some of the beautiful places Queensland has to offer. From beaches to the bush, to tourist attractions and the river city, not to mention it’s the home of the mighty Brisbane Broncos and Brisbane Lions!
Go North
The next major town North is Maryborough - which is where the writer of “Mary Poppins” was born and raised and some very proud Mary Poppins attractions.
Hervey Bay (for the WA’ers it’s pronounced like ‘Harvey’) - trip across to Fraser Island from here and get onboard a whale watching cruise.
The birthplace of the Bundy Rum - visit the Bundaberg Rum Distillery for history, taste testing and can even make your own Qld cane juice.
Agnes Waters/1770 - Coastal town known for Captain Cook’s first landing in Qld and the most southern point of the Great Barrier Reef.
Why not make a full road trip out of it and go to Tropical North Qld!

Off the coast of South-East Queensland are 3 sand islands - Fraser Island, Moreton Island and Stradbroke Island.
Visit the crocodiles and Irwin’s at Australia Zoo, might even catch Robert in his bonds!
Eumundi Markets, The Buderim Ginger Factory, Kenilworth Bakery and Maleny (Bird World, Waterfalls and cheese tastings) - are all popular places to visit on the Sunshine Coast Hinterland
Sunshine Coast beaches - including Rainbow Beach, Noosa Heads, Mooloolaba
Climb the Glass House Mountains
Check out a game of NRL at Suncorp Stadium (up the Broncs!) or the Gabba for the Lions (3 peat?)
Bring out the inner kid at all the theme parks the Goldie has to offer including Wet ‘n’ Wild, Dreamworld, Movie World and Top Golf.
And if you really want to cross the border into cockaroach land (NSW) you can live the life of a Byron Bay influencer and walk to the most Easterly point of mainland Aus!

Gympie is known as the “town that saved Queensland’ after the first major gold rush of Qld was here in 1867 and this saved the colony from financial crisis.
It has a rich gold mining and timber history, and this is on display at The Gympie Gold Mining and Historical Museum and the Wood Works Museum offering insights into the regions past.
Jump aboard the Mary Valley Rattler which is a scenic rail-road tour on a steam engine through the region.
Visit Qld’s oldest bridge - The Dickabram Bridge (built 1886) and the oldest pub in Gympie Mt Pleasant Hotel (est 1868) with XXXX Bitter on tap.
